Good Weekend Festival with 3D Light and Sound Systems
It was January 2011 when Fix-d Media were first approached by the Good Weekend Festival and asked to provide lighting for their Second Stage – nicknamed ‘The Den’, and the team here were more than happy to come up with a plan for this festival.
We had very little in terms of any design ideas or a concept, other than examples of the artists and bands which would be performing on the stage. At this point, we brought in our good friends over at 3D Light and Sound to provide lighting equipment for the event. Johnnie from Fix-d and Rich George from 3D were left full artistic control over the lighting, and we decided on a simple but versatile rig which would be able to complement the wide variety of artists which would be performing. Our rig included Robe Clubspot 300 CTs, Martin Atomic 3000 Strobes, Chauvet COLORado Batten 72s and PAR36 Birdies provided by 3D Light and Sound Systems. Control for this rig was an Avolites Pearl Tiger, and was provided by Fix-d Media.
The collaboration between Fix-d and 3D was also extended to the power for the Good Weekend site, for which two diesel generators were provided, as well as site lighting, cabling and distribution units were provided and installed on site.
It was a pleasure to collaborate with Rich from 3D on this project, and great to work with Ben Hodgson (Production Manager for Good Weekend) and his team on this project. The Festival itself was a huge success, a credit to the management team behind the event who had months in the run up preparing the festival, which certainly paid off.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Rich George of 3D Light and Sound for his work and support before and during the event, and Ben Hodgson for the opportunity to work on such an exciting project, we’ve all got our fingers crossed for Good Weekend 2012!
